MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Cam change

My long term plan is to upgrade my 948cc engine as follows :
Swift SW 05 camshaft
12G295 head
LCB exhaust
Aldon electronic ignition
K&N or Pipercross air filters

This should give a moderate but noticable increase in both power and torque
I will be doing this progressively but want to change the camshaft first while the engine is out for a 5 speed conversion. The other mods can be done with the engine in situ.
My question is, will just fitting the camshaft at this stage to a standard tune engine be ok? Would there be any noticeable benefit from this alone.

Thanks

The cam will improve a standard engine. But the other mods will help the cam to give its best by providing better breathing for inlet and exhaust.

make sure to replace the lifters too, they will just fall into the sump so if you are not taking the head off this time i guess you could turn the engine upside down and drop the new lifters in and then slide your cam in. Make sure you have the right oil pump for the camshaft.

If you are going to upgrade the head to a different casting you might want to invest in having it modified a little bit, it would be a shame to have a cam, LCB, good flowing intake system and electronic ignition and have a head which holds you back, not that you need to make it a rally motor, but a little bit invested in the head will make some big changes in driving.
