MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Caliper Rebuild
Is the rebuild of my midget 1275 front calipers a difficult job? Perhaps I should go for a change over unit. What do forumers think?

It is said that you should not part the calipers. Keep the parts clean, and buy the new 'o' rings from Moss to put them back together. I had no problems. If the pistons are stuck, use low pressure compressed air with a rag to absorb the impact when they come out. Easy job.

Exactly what Shawn says Easy job if you can keep the sealing rings straight when you reassemble I damaged two sets of seals learning how to do it but the rebuilt calipers are fine, many years after doing the task and 8 years after putting the ressembled car back on the road. DO get the proper O ring seal (square sectioned) for between the halves and I firmly believe in getting new caliper section clamping-bolts, they stretch in use and it is recommended not to re-use them. Also remember to fit new bleed nipples Guess who forgot, then suffered for it?
