I have a job interview in San Diego on Friday. The company is flying me down to San Diego on Thursday afternoon and back up to Oregon Friday night just in time to meet my friends for our weekly Friday night go-cart racing session in Portland. From all of the phone interviews I have had and the people inside the company I know I would think its safe to say I have the job which is in Melbourne Florida. The job is doing the same thing I did in the Army as a satellite communications technician and I have worked with this group for the last 2 years when I was in the Army. I want to get the new motor in the midget before I head out to Florida. I am also installing the right hand drive stuff and the datsun 5 speed conversion.

Oh... I didn't realise some of the States were right hand drive... lol Mark.
Mark Boldry
Mark, None of the US states are, but I am putting a turbo on my midget and the steering column is in the way so I managed to get the parts from the UK for my right hand drive conversion to make more room on the left side.

Wow, stefan, That is great, sounds ambitious,,,good luck on the job enterview, what are you racing,,,,I have always loved go kart racing, its a shame the insurance is so high that there are not many tracks around these days, when I was a teen every small town had a dirt track, that was always a fun friday night and sat. afternoon. I used to Briefly had a margay frame with a tecmsie 5 hp ....never got to race it, closest place at time was champain ill. and ended up selling to a neaibor for half that was moving to ill. where they stilll did a bit of go kart racing....but yeah that is alot of fun. I think st. louis has access to a local track, not sure. prop

Prop, We go to an indoor track which is in an old warehouse in Portland. There is also one in Seattle we have raced at. http://www.sykart.com/
Stefan
So do you own a kart or do you use theres...that is a cool idea of a indoor track, being that your going to fla. you will have to team up with a couple others and enter in a bomber class for local stock car racing...you will love it. prop

We rent the carts, you are not allowed to race personal carts there although there is a cart racing league around here. I have been looking at the SCCA group down there and would like to get a sprite out to race, go carts are fun but I will leave it at that, spridgets I have a passion for.

thats going to be intresting "the racing season in fla." I know theres not much of a SCCA program here in missouri, but fla. is such a diverse state, Id say the odds would be pretty good of a scca program, I know nascar is really huge as well as NHRA is really bigg as well there. prop

I can not stand going left and then straight and then left and then straight and then left and then straight... http://www.theonion.com/content/video/nascar_coach_reveals_winning and going in a straight line is boring..... I love racing gocarts or driving my MG on curvy roads because driving is fun! In Florida there is a very diverse motor sports base and I have done some research into it and have already tracked down a local MG club and can not wait to start going out to the SCCA Club racing track days and learning from where I left off going to SCCA days in Portland Oregon in 2002 when I joined the Army.
