MG Midget and Sprite Technical - 1500 gearboxes

does the Marina 1.3 gearbox have the same ratios as the midget 1500? I have a spare Marina one and want to make sure it's of no use to anyone before chucking it out...

David, there is a British Leyland group in Yahoo Groups, perhaps someone there will have the knowledge.

i think a marina gearbox is difrent from the 1500 box since the marina has the A series engine and the 1500 is a triumph one

post a pic maybe you can make a pre 1974 midget owner happy

Hang onto the input shaft - it's longer than the Spitfire shaft and the one you need if you want to hang a Spit o/d box on the Marina/Ital bellhousing on an A-series....

The tail housing probably has a scrap value being alloy.

David. believe it or not, there are Marina owners out there who still need parts, perhaps offer it on their website first.

Thanks Dave, Haynes Midget 1500 gives same fgures so must be identical box with different bellhousing. Good to know.
